MORNING WATCH NOTES:
Faced with a national crisis, the psalmist calls upon God to remember his promise, the Davidic Covenant, to lead and love his people forever and not forsake them. That promise was fulfilled and is still being fulfilled in Christ, the Messiah, the coming King.
We see today what the psalmist then had not yet seen: Christ is given the throne of David (Luk 1:32,33); he is called, “Son of David” (Mat 1:1); he is the fulfillment of the promise (Act 2:29–31); he reigns at the right hand of God (Heb 1:2,3,8); he is the source and fulfillment of the promise (Rev 22:16).
Lord, I exalt the living Christ as the Holy One of God.
