Brighten Your Corner*

Prayer: Allow your light to shine brightly for Christ (Phi 2:12-19). #LightUpLife #BrightenYourCorner https://www.bible.com/116/php.2.12-18.nlt

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Paul pleads with his dear friends in Philippi to “live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.“ He could easily have been speaking to Christians in the 21st-century (2021).

Christians today ought to hold firm to the word of life and live clean innocent lives. We ought to pour out our lives in faithful service to God. Then we may rejoice to you know that out light shown brightly all the way to the end. Father, I pray that my light will shine brightly for Christ in all that I do.

*This simple song, written many years ago, challenges Christians to Brighten The Corner Where You Are!

Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do,

Do not wait to shed your light afar;

To the many duties ever near you now be true,

Brighten the corner where you are.

[Refrain]

Brighten the corner where you are!

Brighten the corner where you are!

Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar;

Brighten the corner where you are!

Here for all your talent you may surely find a need,

Here reflect the bright and Morning Star;

Even from your humble hand the Bread of Life may feed,

Brighten the corner where you are.

[Refrain]

  1. *****************Reflecting the bright and Morning Star

    A week ago we were outside watering our flowers and our neighbor stopped by and they were needing help to water all their plants and flowers, they had a trip planned with their whole family to Galveston. They said we could enjoy their pool and back yard. It is a beautiful flower garden surrounding the pool. After we finished watering, we sat down, sitting inside a covered area overlooking the pool. The Lord Jesus’ presence was there with us, it was so special I could have stayed longer, but our flowers also needed watering, so we went on home.

    They arrived home on Saturday and Jeff stopped by yesterday thanking us and he gave us two gifts: a starfish, and a beach hand towel that we placed on the door of the stove. Then this morning I looked on line and found:

    **********The Parable of the Starfish by Inspiration Ministries: Perhaps you have heard of the young girl walking along the seashore, who noticed hundreds of starfish that had washed up along the beach with the incoming tide. Knowing they would soon dry out, she quickly started picking them up and throwing them back into the sea. One by one, the starfish were returned to safety.

    “What are you doing?” inquired a nearby fisherman. “I’m saving the starfish,” the girl replied. “If they don’t make it back into the water they will die.”

    The fisherman, shaking his head, looked at the girl and said, “You can’t possibly save all these starfish…there are so many you can’t even count them!” And then he asked, “What difference can you possibly make?”

    The girl, looking down at the sand, picked up another starfish and tossed it into the ocean. “It made a difference to that one!” she exclaimed. ********************************************************************************************* Reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a lot like rescuing starfish.

    Habakkuk 2:14 “The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”
