The Measure of a Ministry

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Clearly speak God‘s message and trust God for the results (Ezk 2:4,5). #Obedience #TrustGodForResults

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

It is hard to dwell on the various elements of God‘s call on Ezekiel. What compels me to dwell here is God‘s intense concern for his rebellious people. He calls them “stubborn,” hardheaded people. Their hearts were set on rebellion.

God’s people had been shameless and unyielding in their will. They wouldn’t yield, even when proven guilty (Isaiah 48:4-6). Irregardless, Ezekiel‘s charge was to speak God‘s undiluted message and they would know that a prophet of God had spoken to them. God measures success by our obedience.

Lord, I will speak your truth and be judged by my obedience not how successful I was.

My “Blue” Heaven

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Walk in reverent fear of God‘s truth & faithfulness (Ezk 1:26-28). #SeeGodInNewWays #Truth #GodIsFaithful #RevereGod’sTruth-Faithfulness

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Every prophet of God has a call that is unique to them. Ezekiel‘s call stands alone as a vision of the likeness of God in all his glory. Ezekiel describes God and his throne. It’s made of brilliant blue lapis lazuli (blue sapphire). The heavens declare his glory (Psm 19:1).

Biblical sources reveal sapphire (the color blue) as representative of truth – the accuracy and sincerity of God‘s word.* It’s the ground upon which God’s feet rest (Exo 24:10). I come away with an overwhelming sense of sheer reverence for the God I serve, his faithfulness and authenticity.

Lord, may my walk before you exemplify that reverent honor for your truth & faithfulness.

_______

* Sapphire is blue in color. In the Bible the color blue or sapphire stones may represent God and things dedicated to a holy purpose (Exo 24:10; Ezk 1:26; Num 4:5,6; Rev 21:19). Blue may also represent things like the Spirit, heavenly visitation, heaven itself, grace, truth, faithfulness and cleansing.

The End of Hypocracy

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

May we turn quickly from pride, arrogance and disdain for God (Jer 34:17-22). #Repent #TurnNowToGod

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

The end of hypocrisy before God spells disaster for the nation of Judah. Here we see God‘s hand of protection as removed from Judah.

Because of pride and disobedience, God will allow an enemy, the Babylonians, to swoop in and destroy Jerusalem, the towns and cities of Judah.

Further, the bodies of the people (officials & citizens) will become food for vultures.

The king, Zedekiah, and his officials will be taken captive. War, disease and famine will be Judah’s end. This is the word of the Lord to Jeremiah.

Lord, may my heart (my nation, its leaders & people) turn from pride, arrogance and disdain for God. May we return to God.

We Are What We Do

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Understand the severity of hypocrisy with God (Jer 34:17,18). #DoWhatYouSay #FollowThroughMatters #MeanWhatYouSay

We Are What We Do;
Not What We Say We Will Do

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Hypocrisy before God is something for which every believer ought to be aware: telling God you will do one thing, but doing another. The reference to cutting a calf in half and then walking between the halves to solemnize their vows was tantamount to signing a contract (Gen 15:9,10).

Significantly, the vows made here were made before God in the temple of God (v15). This is a fiercely defiant sin. It is the same as going to church on Sunday and putting on a show of piety, then living a life of sin and debauchery the rest of the week. Lord, may I always do what my words imply that I am.

Jesus = God

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Place your faith in the truth of God (1Jhn 5:20,21). #JesusSonOfGod #JesusAutherOfNewLife #KnowingChristMakingHimKnown

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

John’s last words: “We KNOW [by experience] the Son of God has come.“ John and the disciples knew Jesus personally. His readers knew these eye witnesses to Christ. We can know Christ also by their witness. I have myself known the abiding deep love of God in Christ, who is God and reveals God.

I am able to conclude from the veracity of scripture and the change in my life and others that Jesus is truly God; that he is our eternal life. This is in contrast to the false gods of this world. “On Christ the solid rock, I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.“ Lord, my faith rests in the testimony of your word and the witness of Christ.

Praying God’s Word

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Seek to know God‘s will and pray from Scripture (1Jhn 5:14,15).

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

“If you pray according to God‘s will, he will answer.” This is often taken to be a prickly caveat to prayer. My “GO TO“ means of praying God’s will is to pray the truth of Scripture into my life and over those for whom I pray. Seeking God’s will in Scripture is not like looking for a needle in the haystack. It’s like looking for straw of hay in a haystack. Using Scripture In its context to pray, you will rarely go wrong. Nor will you run out of things to pray.

But there are times when we are just not sure of God‘s will, e.g., praying for healing or prodigals. Or which career path to take; who to marry. In those times especially we ought to be seeking God in his word to know his will as we pray. We ought to seek counsel and listen to trustworthy voices. (The point of this blogger’s use of Scripture is to learn and to pray from God’s word, his will)

Lord, I thank you for your word that guides me in my prayer life.

Future Secure

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Rely fully on God‘s unchanging word; eternal life is a certainty (1Jhn 5:13). #HopeForTheFuture #EternallySecure

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Concluding his letter, John states for the third time (words to the effect) “These things I have written“ (see 1:4 & 2:1). These words in this epistle point to the believer’s assurance. There is a certainty about the life of faith and following Christ.

Here I see that eternal life for the Christian is a certainty. There is no guessing, no “hope so“ kind of uncertain future. Eternal life is an absolute certainty. The word of God is our authority on that truth. Lord, my faith is based upon the truth of God’s word – he won’t lie, cannot lie (Tit 1:2; Heb 6:18).

Hope That Overcomes

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Give praise for our overwhelming hope in Christ (1Jhn 5:4,5). #ChristIsTheVictory #JesusOvercomesTheWorld

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Every child of God, no exceptions, defeats the evil in this world. Victory is achieved through our faith in the Son of God – Jesus. That is to say, as long as there are committed believers, followers of Christ in this world, there will be hope.

Hope that men can be loving towards each other;

Hope that nations can/will repent and come to Christ;

Hope that even one child of God can make a vast difference;

Hope that gives assurance of ultimate eternal victory over the evil of this world.

Lord, my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

God Is Greater

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Stand strong/faithful facing any antichrist spirit in the world (1Jn 4:4). #GreaterIsHeThatIsInYou #GodIsGreater

Greater is He That is in You…

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

As a child of God, the ONE who lives and works in you is greater than the spirit that lives and works in the world. This reminds me of Elisha, who is trying to comfort the fears of his servant. The enemy of Israel had surrounded the city where the prophet Elisha was serving.

He That is With Us is Greater

Elisha‘s servant panicked. But Elisha asked God to open his eyes that he might see the Armies of Heaven who surrounded them. Elisha said, “Look those who are with us are greater than those with them.“ (2Ki 6:15–19). Lord, I may be fearless because God in me is exceedingly greater than any spirit of antichrist that I face (also Joshua 1:9).

Detection of False Prophets

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

Remain vigilant towards spiritual truth (1Jn 4:1-3). #FalseTeachers #FalseProphets #SpiritOfAntichrist #DiscerningTruthAndError

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

There are many false prophets in the world. So says the aged apostle, John. These, John says, have the spirit of antichrist and they are already among us. They were around then and they are now. So, John says to test them – is their spirit, their teaching, from God?

Do these teachers/prophets acknowledge that Jesus Christ was God in the form of man? If they do not acknowledge Jesus as the only son of God in the flesh, their teaching is not from God. Jeremiah also addresses detecting false prophets (see Jeremiah 23, this blog). Father, may I remain alert and discerning of spiritual truth and error.

Guilty Of Being A Christian

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION:

May our lives, give evidence of our faith in Christ (1Jn 3:23,24). #EvidenceThatDemadsAVerdict #ChristianGuiltyAsCharged

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

What is the proof of our faith?

1) That we genuinely believe in the name of God‘s son, Jesus Christ. To believe in the name is to take the name as our standard, our banner (vv2,3).

2) That we will have a genuine love for our brothers and sisters in Christ (vv11,14).

3) That the Spirit bears witness to our faith (v24; 1Co 12:3).

We will pattern our lives after Christ, love our brothers and sisters in Christ and allow the Spirit to control our lives. Lord, may my life be ample evidence to convict me of being a Christian.

Not God’s Children

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION

Know the security of being God‘s child in Christ (1Jn 3:1).

They don’t know God

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

I often hear folks (even certain ministers) say, “We’re all God‘s children.“ Are we? Well, NO, we’re not. We’re certainly all God‘s creation. But the familial relation as “God‘s child” is reserved only for those who believe in Jesus (Jhn 1:11-13).

Here, John teaches that the world does not recognize the Christian’s relationship to God as his children. Why? Because they don’t know God. Paul also makes this clear: they are not children of God, they are “children of the flesh” (Rom 8:5–9; 9:8; see also Gal 3:26; 4:6-7). Lord, I am here affirmed in my relationship to God as his child.

Paths of Righteousness

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION

Remain steadfast in the paths of righteousness (1Jn 2:29). #PathsOfRighteousness

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

John concludes, a sign that one is in Christ is he/she will manifest righteous behavior. At the same time, we know that good behavior and good works do not save us (Eph 2:8,9; Jas 2:14–17). It is simply a sign of one’s faith in Christ.

True righteousness will exalt Christ. It will be accomplished in all humility and stand the test of time. It will seek to put the needs of others ahead of its own and love unconditionally (1Co 13:4-7).

In the end, true righteousness acknowledges that there are none righteous but one – Christ the righteous one (1Jn 2:1). Finally, it relies upon God’s Holy Spirit for divine enablement.* Lord, may I follow paths of righteousness for the sake of the Name (Psm 23:3)

Spirit Life; Courageous Life

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION

Live life according to the truth of God‘s word (1Jn 2:26-28). #HoldFastToTruth #RemainFaithfulToTruth #GospelTruth #SpiritLife

Living Life; Knowing Truth

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

John reminds us that we, as believers, have been given the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. The Spirit guides us in God‘s truth (Jhn 14:16,26; 16:13). Today we also have the inspired word of God. We may test any teaching by God‘s word, whether they be true or not.

Staying true to Christ we must follow God‘s word and his Spirit. The Spirit is Christ within us living out his message. Living by the Spirit, knowing the truth, we may always be courageous and never ashamed. Lord, may I always be discerning of the truth of God.

Are You Awake?

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION

Be alert to the spirit of antichrist (1Jn 2:18-23). #WakeUp #SpiritOfAntichrist #DefendTheTruth

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

We live in the “last days.“ It is evident all around. There is much anti-Christian rhetoric and anti-Christian teaching. This is a spirit of antichrist. It is a sign that we are living in the “last days.” (More on this and false teachers in chapter four)

It is important that the true believer knows the difference between the truth, and the lies of an antichrist teaching. That comes by a genuine conversion to Christ, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who teaches and guides into all truth (Jhn 14:15–17) and a study of God’s word. Lord, may every prayer sentry on the wall remain alert to the presence of the spirit of antichrist in our world.

Bulking Up Faith

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION

Grow in the knowledge of God; grow in every victory over the evil one (1Jn 2:12-14). #FaithIsTheVictory #BulkingUp

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

John stops here to affirm the spiritual equity and proficiency of his readers. “Children“ is not a statement of spiritual sloth, but spiritual position. They are children of God. Young and old in faith, John describes their bulk in equity and proficiency.

Equity: 1) they have had their sins forgiven (v12); 2) they are mature in their knowledge of God the Father (v14).

Proficiency: they are 1) growing in their faith and knowledge of Christ (vv13,14); 2) they are strengthened through every victory over the evil one (vv13,14).

God’s word has been hidden in their hearts (Psm 129:11), they have tasted victory in their lives (v14). Lord, may I count myself among believers who are mature and strong.

Finding Forgiveness & Cleansing

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION

Remain open to the conviction of God’s Holy Spirit (1Jn 1:8-10). #ConfessAllKnownSin #BeRightWithGod #PracticeTheTruth #ListenToTheSpirit

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

It may seem odd that some might claim that they have no sin, now that they have trusted Christ. But some were doing exactly that. That is delusional. It calls God a liar and ignores God’s word. Christians do not become sinless at the point of salvation. But neither do they still desire to continue in sin.

Christians are not perfect. I need only to look into my own heart to know that. Walking in the light does not mean sinless perfection. It means that my heart is always open to the scrutiny of the Spirit of God. When some sin is there exposed, I agree with God and confess it. Christ forgives the sin and cleanses me from all wickedness.

Lord, at risk here is this sentry’s closeness with you, as “darkness” tries to edged out the light. But my relationship with God in Christ is secure and never in question.

TRUE LIGHT

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION

Faithfully embrace the light of the gospel (1Jn 1:5). #LightOfTheGospel #JesusIsTheLight

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

John quickly goes to the heart of the gospel. “God is light, in him is no darkness.“ (See Jhn 1:4-9). One of the first acts of creation by God was to create light and dispel the darkness. (Gen 1:2,3). Light reveals and enables us to see the difference between good and evil. Light will always overcome the darkness.

Having a relationship with Christ is derived by coming out of the darkness of sin and embracing Christ, who is our light and our salvation. Lord, I give thanks for the light of the gospel; may I follow it faithfully.

Reliable Witness

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH & NATION

Trust the reliability of God‘s word (1Jn 1:1–4). #RealWitness #ReliableWitness #Truth

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

The Apostle John begins this epistle in a similar way as he begins his gospel account in the Gospel of John. John is testifying to the truth and veracity of the coming of Jesus Christ into the world. He is speaking to believers who had never seen nor heard Jesus. But John knew him personally.

It had been a full generation since the final events of Christ’s life on earth. John begins by making the case that he (along with others) had walked with Jesus, seen him, touched him, heard him speak and talked with him. His witness is reliable.

Lord, I may trust the reliable eye witness of those who knew Jesus firsthand and wrote about it.

Dangerous False Narratives

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Be discerning of false and lying leaders (Jer 23:13–15). #GodlySpiritualLeaders #PastorsTeachersProphets #DevotedToGod

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Jeremiah compares the prophets in Jerusalem (Judah – southern kingdom) to the Samarian prophets of Israel, the northern kingdom, already judged and gone. These Samarian prophets prophesied in the name of Baal (the Canaanite deity). They were wicked men and lead Israel into all kinds of sin.

Jeremiah saw the prophets of Judah as worse than the their counterparts. They were dishonest, liars, and adulterers on par with the people of Sodom & Gomorrah (symbolizing ultimate depravity). These prophets led the people of Judah into all manner of sin. They would be made to drink of the bitter waters of judgment.

Lord, may I (our nation) be discerning of those who paint a false view of God and the future.

TRUST, BUT VERIFY TOO

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

May our nation (people) and her leaders (religious & political) speak the truth of God (Jer 28:15-17). #BeDiscerningOfTruth #SpeakTheTruth #TrustButVerify #TrustGodsWord

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Jeremiah confronted the “prophet” Hananiah with the truth (vv12–14). But here, he tells this false prophet, because he led the people astray from God‘s truth, he would die within that year. Two months later, Hananiah was dead. God is serious about his plans for his people.*

Jeremiah reminds us that the proof of a true prophet is that his prophecies will come to pass (v9; Deu 18:22). By the way, Jeremiah is careful to date this message (v1). There would be no doubt who had spoken God‘s truth. History reveals Jeremiah’s prophecies as true. Those who speak falsely, rebelliously, against God, will be severely judged.

Lord, “may the words of [this old sentry] and the meditations of [his] heart be pleasing unto you” (Psm 19:14).

______________

* A similar incident occurs in Acts Chapter Five in the early stages of the inauguration of the church. Lying to God’s people is a serious offense.

TRUST, BUT VERIFY

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Have a healthy reverence for God; a discerning heart for truth (Jer 28:5–11). #BeDiscerningOfTruth #TrustButVerify #TrustGodsWord

TRUST BUT VERIFY

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

After Hananiah‘s dramatic “prophetic show,“ Jeremiah turned and walked out of the temple. But before he did, he spoke some well, chosen words:

1) He admitted that it would be good if Judah would only be under Babylonian rule for 24 months; 2) he questioned Hananiah’s claim to be a prophet of God – time would tell [TRUST BUT VERIFY].

Jeremiah spoke wisely and correctly. That is when Hananiah broke the yoke on Jeremiah‘s neck. He then doubled down on his fake “word from God.” He showed no fear of God. Lord, may I always have a healthy respect for you and a discerning heart for truth.

Know When to Hold’em..Fold’em

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Exercise godly wisdom in the heat of confrontation (Jer 28:1-11). #KnowWhenToHold’em #ShowRestraint #SeekGodlyWisdom

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Another prophet in Judah, Hananiah, confronted Jeremiah publicly in the Temple and before the priests and people. It was dramatic. Hananiah prophesied that the “yoke“ (27:2) of Babylon on the people of God would be removed within two years. All the Temple treasures and people in exile would be returned. Jeremiah had prophesied a 70 year exile (29:10).

To further dramatize his prediction, Hananiah removed the yoke on Jeremiah‘s neck and broke it into pieces. Jeremiah in his own dramatic way and waiting on God’s answer, turned and walked out of the Temple. How many times have I been in a confrontation and pushed back hard “knowing“ that “I” was right; later regretting my words/actions?

Lord, may I exercise godly wisdom in the heat of confrontation. “I got to know when to hold’em..fold’em.”

The True Prophet

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Give us prayerful pastors and prophets who speak the truth of God. (Jer 27:12-22). #Prayer #PrayingProphets #SpeakTheTruth #PrayingPastors

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

In this passage, Jeremiah is pleading with king Zedekiah to surrender to the king of Babylon. “Why would anyone choose death, war, famine, and disease over life?“ He then pleads his case to the priests and the people. “False prophets are lying to you. If you resist Babylon you will be expelled from the land.

PRAYER! If these prophets were true prophets of God, says Jeremiah, they would intercede with God that further punishment and calamity be avoided; that further looting of the temple and palaces would be averted. Surrender to the yoke of Babylon would achieve that. But there would be no such prayers. Disaster, as prophesied by Jeremiah, would soon follow.

Lord, may I have the heart of a praying pastor/prophet that would intercede compassionately for the people of God and speak the truth of God to the those in my circle of influence.

God’s Plan For The Nations

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Acknowledge and surrender to God’s will and plan (Jer 27:1–8). #ISurrenderAll #YesGod

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

God‘s plan for his people was a 70 year exile into Babylon. Babylon was God’s servant in this process. They were conquering all the nations around and including Judah. It is likely that these nations, represented by ambassadors, were in Jerusalem to meet with king Zedekiah (a meeting of the minds) to discuss an overthrow of Babylon.

By God‘s will however, there would be no such plan, enabling his people to escape judgment. God‘s purposes were to lead them into brokenness, repentance and renewed passion to serve him (Jer 29:10-14). Nothing would stand in God‘s way, then or now, of accomplishing those purposes. Lord, I acknowledge your will and surrender my will to you and your plan for me. I acknowledge that you have a plan too, for America. May she listen and surrender.

Trafficking In Deceit

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Neither believe deceitful men nor be deceitful yourself (Jer 29:29–32). #SpeakNoDeceit #BeNotDeceived

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

This is the third of three letters in this chapter. The first two are dealt with in an earlier post.* Zephaniah, the Jewish priest in Babylon, shows Shamala‘s damning letter (the 2nd letter, vv26–28) to Jeremiah. Jeremiah then sends an open letter (3rd letter) to all the exiles in Babylon. In it Shamala’s deceit is condemned by the Lord:

I did not send this man to you. He has trafficked in deceit; tricked you into believing him. He will be punished. None of his family or descendants will see the good things I have promised to do (vv10-14) – he has led you to rebel against my word.“ The plans of deceitful men will never foil God‘s good plan for his people (see also Ananias and Sopphira in Acts).

Lord, may I neither be deceived nor speak any deliberate deceit myself (Psm 19:7-14).

Say What??

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Be discerning of those who speak lies and live for their own self interests. (Jer 29:15-23). #BelieveGod #DiscernTruth

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

Although God has a “good plan” for his people (vv10–14), to bring them through his discipline, they have a long way to go. But the seers and prophets in their midst were telling them lies and living licentious lives. They sought to silence, Jeremiah (vv26–28). They were giving a false sense of hope.

God will deal harshly with the sin of those who falsely represent God. Part of God‘s “good plan“ includes his discipline. In this case, it will take 70 years to bring his people through that discipline as part of God’s “good plan”. “No one enjoys discipline. But it will produce a good harvest of righteousness in those who are trained by it“ (Heb 12:11).

Lord, may I always speak the truth and live putting others interests ahead of my own (Eph 4:14,15; Phi 2:4).

A Good Plan

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Trust God with all of your future (Jer 29:10-14). #TrustGod #BelieveGod #AFutureAndAHope

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

This may be one of the most hope filled passages in the Old Testament. God’s people are given assurance of deliverance, in spite of their dire circumstances. God will not forget his people. His plan is purposeful, and his discipline will achieve its desired outcome.

God‘s people will once again call Upon him. He will be found and present with them. He will restore their fortune and return them to their land, and so he did. Our God is a God of purpose and hope. Lord, I am encouraged about my own future by the words of this passage.

Last Man Standing…Against God

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Do not neglect/reject God‘s long-suffering towards you (2 Ki 24:17–20; 2Ch 36:12–16). #TurnNowToGod #Repent #LastManStanding #God’sLongSuffering

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

As the final days of Judah as a nation close in, the last king of Judah is appointed by the Babylonian king. His name, Zedekiah (Hebrew name – Mattaniah). He was Jehoiachin‘s uncle (brother to his father, Jehoiakim) and a son of the good king Josiah. Zedehiah was the last king of Judah (last man standing). He was an unrighteous and wicked man, like his brother, Jehoiakim.

Zedekiah hardened his heart towards God. All the leaders, priest and people followed his example. Still, in compassion, God sent his prophets again and again. But they were mocked and ridiculed, finally, beyond remedy. Though God knows the outcome of all things, he still had compassion and continued to offer pardon for sin. But the people refused him. Lord, may I not neglect the plain truth of your long-suffering towards me.

A Sure Word

PRAYING FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CHURCH AND NATION:

Humbly bow in obedience and allegiance to God‘s word (Jer 36:27-29,32 ) #God’sWordIsEternal #ObeyGod’sWord #God’sWordIsTruth

MORNING WATCH NOTES:

King Jehoiakim did not like what God had to say in Jeremiah‘s scroll of prophecies. He did not want to hear about sin and repentance, or hear about Babylon’s destruction of Judah and Jerusalem. So he burned the scroll containing God‘s word. But God‘s word will stand (Psm 119:89; Mat 24:35).

Men can burn God‘s word, reject it, ignore it and trash it, but they cannot destroy it. God‘s word is indestructible and eternal in the heavens. God‘s word is truth (Jhn 17:17) and it is living (Heb 4:12). It is a sure and certain word. Lord, I do not stand in judgment of your word, it stands in judgment of me.
